Each day this crisis goes unsolved, hundreds of families lose a loved one to it, while millions continue to suffer. At Project Maji, we are fighting the water crisis through constant innovation in the rural water space. Our innovation efforts have culminated in the development of a variety of fit-for-purpose solar-powered water solutions. Each of these solutions cut down inefficiencies, bring down costs and increase water revenues. The end goal is to set rural communities on the path of self-reliance and long-term water security. To this end, our team combines technical expertise from sector experts with information from the field to deliver the most optimal solutions possible.
The blueprint for a sustainable rural water solution, the Mini Maji, marking the beginning of our innovation journey. Over the years we have added MajiPlus – a safe water distribution network, Maji Standpipes and RE-Maji to our solution profile. All with the aim promote uptime and accelerate rural access to water.

Another Drinking Water Charity?
We are a non-profit social enterprise, a clean water charity that strives to bring sustainable access to safe water across rural sub-Saharan Africa through solar-powered water kiosks. Currently operating over 180+ water access points, we are on a mission to provide access to safe water to 1 million people by 2025. To reach this goal, we replace broken handpumps in Ghana and Kenya, using existing infrastructure to offer cost-efficient alternatives. We empower the communities we work in, setting them on a journey of self-reliance by providing the latest, self-sustainable water solutions, such as mobile monitoring and e-payment systems.
Where We Work
Since 2015, we have provided sustainable access to safe water to thousands of people in Ghana and Kenya, pumping millions of litres of water each year. We partner with local governments, corporates, private donors and NGOs such as World Vision and IFRC (International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent) all of whom share our vision for sustainable change.
