Project Maji welcomes Manal Rostom as Brand Ambassador

We at Project Maji are thrilled to welcome Manal Rostom on board as our new brand ambassador!

The global face of the Nike Pro Hijab in 2017, Manal is an Egyptian sports enthusiast who has many firsts to her name. Not only is she the first Hijabi woman to model in a Nike Running Campaign, she is also the first Egyptian to complete 5 out of 6 World Marathon Majors, as well as the first Egyptian woman to run the Great Wall of China Marathon. With a Facebook and Instagram following of over 82,000 followers, Manal is also the founder of the award-winning Facebook Group: Surviving Hijab, a 750,000 women’s only closed group actively defying stereotypes that hinder Hijabi women’s participation in sports, and in society in general.

“Manal is surely a whirlwind of a person and an influencer, more importantly, she is a like-minded partner who feels strongly about eradicating water poverty for the poorest in the world. She is proudly African and is, therefore, a perfect ambassador for our cause. Project Maji admires Manal for her principles, her unrelenting commitment to ensuring an inclusive and equal world for all, and we love her endless energy.” – Sunil Lalvani, CEO & Founder, Project Maji.

Project Maji has locked horns with a water crisis that continues to affect 780 million people who do not have ready access to safe water. We believe while the problem is grave, it is not insurmountable. With a solar-powered solution that provides sustainable access to safe water, our message is one of hope. We are delighted that Manal recognizes the value of our work: “Honored to be collaborating with Project Maji as they aspire to change the world and Africa. It has been my dream to give back to my continent and be more present combining sports and doing good. Thank you, Project Maji, for the opportunity!” – Manal Rostom

On this World Water Day, 22 March, we will collaborate with our new brand ambassador for an exciting African campaign. Hint, Manal might be running….Watch this space for more!
